macstadiumMacStadium said that it has received two patents  -- D762,217 and D761,246 – for the design of customized enclosures for small Apple servers deployed in commercial datacenters in the United States and Europe.

The press release says that the patents aim at use of the Apple Mac mini and Mac Procomputers. The Mac mini exceeds the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) ENERGY STAR requirements by a factor of seven. The reduced heat generate by the machine enables the two new enclosures to be packed with up to five times the number of the devices that would fit into conventional rack infrastructure, the release said.

Datacenter racks are changing as approaches to equipment use and configurations evolve. Intel recently released information about its requirements.
