Royal Philips Electronics saw a 70 percent increase in LED lighting sales in 2011, excluding LED chips, reports Optics.org. In the final quarter of 2011, LED-related sales were up 37 percent year-on-year despite a decrease in sales at Philips Lumileds - its LED chip manufacturing subsidiary.
Philips Lumileds has launched Luxeon K, an illumination grade LED array. The product provides what Philips calls "thousands of lumens of light output" and is available in three correlated colour temeperatures: 2700K, 3000K and 4000K. It will be available early in the second quarter of 2012.
Cummings Properties has completed a lighting efficiency upgrade program that should save 5,500 MWh of energy a year. The project included the replacement of 15,000 light fixtures through 40 of Cummings' buildings (pictured) in Massachusetts. The upgrades are expected to save tenants an estimated $900,000 in utility charges annually.
Noribachi has launched LED Prix 2.0 an upgrade to its LED customization technology. The upgrade includes advancements in the thermal management of Noribachi's custom retrofit bulbs, DLC certification for Noribachi's key products and lowered pricing, the company says.
