ArboretumThe Morton Arboretum, an outdoor tree museum and tree research center located in Lisle, Illinois, has completed an LED lighting upgrade throughout its buildings. The upgrade was made possible by a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation (ICECF).

Prior to the upgrade, the Arboretum’s calculated annual energy consumption was 156,483 kWh. Upon completion of the upgrade, the institution’s new calculated energy consumption will be 23,883 kWh, reducing energy consumption by 84 percent.

The Arboretum upgraded 463 fixtures containing incandescent, halogen and quartz lamps to LED lamps. The upgraded fixtures are a variety of interior and exterior fixtures located in the Visitor Center, the Research Building and in Thornhill Education Center. The upgrade maintained, and in many locations improved, the lighting quality throughout the three buildings.
