LED lamp Energy ManageThinkLite has completed an LED retrofit at One Post Office Square in Boston. The project, according to the press release, includes the building’s lobby and parking garage and the breezeway between the building and the Boston Langham Hotel.

In the breezeway and garage, LED tubes were installed that reduce wattage consumption by half compared to fluorescent tubes. The lifespan of the lighting increased from 14,000 hours to 65,000 hours. Energy consumption in the lobby – where LEDs replaced metal halide fixtures – will be improved by almost 70 percent.  Overall, the project will eliminate 415,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, the release said.

On the other side of the country, Bellingham, WA, is in the process of replacing its streetlights with LEDs. The Bellingham Herald reports that the project, which involves about 3,600 lights, began on December 7 and was expected to be completed in about five weeks.
