Revolution Lighting Technologies’ LED tube products have been installed by GB Energie LED LLC at the Ideal Academy Public Charter School in Washington, D.C.
GB Energie, a minority- and woman-owned business, used Revolution’s T8 SEP LED Tubes, Uni-Fit T5 Ballast Ready LED Tubes and occupancy sensor lighting, the press release said. The installations, which the press release says were completed last month, are expected to reduce energy use by 65 percent. The installation also is expected to reduce ongoing maintenance costs.
The release says that lighting is the second largest user of energy – trailing only heating and cooling -- in K-12 grade schools.
Several weeks ago, Green Charge Networks said that it has entered into the largest school energy storage project in California when it agreed to a project with the Grossmont Union High School District in San Diego County.
