Kyocera Corporation announced that it will begin the full-scale adoption of hybrid vehicles for company cars that are used for general sales activities and movement between plants.
Kyocera currently has 194 vehicles used for such activities, 15 of which are already hybrids,. It will gradually replace the other 179 with hybrids starting in 2008. The reduction ratio is projected to be 43.8 percent for both vehicle fuel and CO2 emissions.
To combat climate change, Kyocera says it has already installed solar power generating systems at its headquaters, offices, and plants, introduced high-efficiency turbo chillers, and shifted product shipping from trucks to railway, all of which resulted in a CO2 reduction last year of 34.1 percent per net sales, compared with the 1990 level.
