Kyndryl has earned the Google Cloud Ready - Energy & Carbon Designation, becoming one of the first service providers in the program focused on helping customers reduce the energy and carbon footprint of their IT infrastructure.

The designation is part of the Google Cloud Partner Advantage Program, which connects businesses with providers offering pre-built tools to measure and optimize energy use and carbon emissions. The goal is to support organizations in meeting environmental targets through improved infrastructure management and AI deployment.

Survey Shows Sustainability Gaps in IT Modernization

In a recent survey by Kyndryl:

  • 90% of respondents said sustainability is a priority during technology modernization
  • Only 27% reported actual emissions reductions
  • 54% cited difficulty achieving sustainability goals

New Capabilities Offered Through the Partnership

As part of this expanded partnership, Kyndryl will deliver the following services through its AI-powered platform, Kyndryl Bridge:

  • IT Infrastructure Assessments: Measure energy usage, emissions, and sustainability KPIs. Identify inefficient workloads and align with regulatory standards.
  • Carbon-Efficient Workload Placement: Help organizations map workloads to data centers in regions with higher renewable energy usage, while maintaining data compliance.
  • Sustainable LLM Development: Use the Kyndryl LLMOps Framework to reduce the carbon footprint of large language model (LLM) development.

Kyndryl’s Consult team will also provide strategic advisory services, working with Google Cloud on customer sustainability initiatives.

Aligning AI and Infrastructure with Sustainability

This designation adds to Kyndryl’s efforts to guide companies in responsible IT modernization. The tools and services offered through the partnership aim to reduce emissions from high-performance computing, AI, and hybrid environments.

Kyndryl and Google Cloud previously announced collaboration on mainframe modernization and responsible AI adoption. This new designation formalizes their joint role in helping businesses integrate sustainability into their digital operations.
