Korean Energy Storage Player Enters US Market

LGLG CNS, an affiliate of LG Corporation, plans to expand its energy storage system business to the United States.

In May, Navigant Research released a Leaderboard Report for energy storage system integrators, and LG CNS was positioned as the first in Asia and the fourth in the world.

In 2014, LG CNS built one of the world's largest energy storage systems for peak management (23 MWh) for the LG Chem plant in South Korea. Now LG CNS, along with partners, is transforming Ulleung Island in Korea into a self-contained green energy island by 2020 by developing a stand-alone microgrid including energy storage.

LG CNS has a mid- and long-term vision to become a major energy service player in the American energy market. To realize the vision, it says it will integrate the energy solutions held by LG Corporation’s affiliates and make a variety of partnerships with US providers.
