Kohl's announced it has earned the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star label at seven stores in Colorado, 14 in Illinois, eight in Minnesota, 12 in New York, four in Utah, and five in Wisconsin.
The company touts its 50 Energy Star labels as the largest for a group of non-supermarket retail buildings.
Kohl's will pursue LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for all stores built from the ground up beginning this fall.
Earlier this year, the company also announced plans to convert more than 50 of its existing stores to solar power, and said when completed it will become the largest retail host of solar power.
