The first-of-its-kind, sludge-to-energy plant at the Billund BioRefinery in Denmark will convert wastewater sludge and organic waste into biogas for energy production. Other plant byproducts will include efficient, odor-free organic fertilizer, and eventually, phosphorus and biodegradable bioplastics. The joint project is a partnership between Veolia Water Technologies subsidiary Krüger A/S the municipality of Billund, and its utility company Billund Vand A/S.
