Ingersoll-Rand has won two awards form the North Carolina Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Irish company – which has its U.S. headquarters in Davidson, N.C. – received the Thomas Edison Award for its Climate Commitment. That is a five-year commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas refrigerant footprint by half, invest $500 million in GHG research and development and cut its internal greenhouse gas footprint by 35 percent, according to The Charlotte Observer.
The company also won the Talking Walls Award, which is aimed at small commercial buildings. The winner was the company's 76,320-square-foot facility that is being built in Davidson. It will yield savings of 29 percent in energy and a more than 42 percent in water.
Earlier this month, the company was named to the 2015 Dow Jones Sustainability World and North America Indices for the fifth consecutive year.
