Indian Airports Move to Solar Power

nscbiMajor airports in India are making the move to solar power. Clean Technica reports that the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose airport in Kolkata will install 15 MW to 20 MW of solar capacity. There soon will be a tender for the project, which will add to $20 million that already is allocated for the project.

The Airport Authorities of India said that airports in the state of Rajasthan, which is in the west, has added a 100 kW rooftop solar power system at Jaipur airport and is planning a project that will add 1.8 MW more. Airports in Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner also have installed rooftop systems.

Care2.com reports that Cochin International Airport in Kerala is energy-positive. Last month, it flipped the switch on a 46,000 solar panel array that is located across 45 acres near its cargo facility.
