Posted

infoprintInfoPrint, a joint venture of IBM and Ricoh, has launched a new series of color printer with enhanced sustainability features.

The new printers feature standard duplex printing to reduce the amount of paper waste. InfoPrint's ColorCare Technology helps control color access and costs, according to a press release.

When the printers run in eco-mode, energy is reduced while the printers are not in use.

The printers are designed for use at small to medium businesses, with applications in IT, marketing, communications and other areas.

Printer manufacturers are making advances in energy efficiency and reduction of waste and ink use.

Xerox has a new line of printers that cut waste by 90 percent and energy use by 9 percent.

Nearly half (42 percent) of IT departments have no plans to launch projects in the next 12 months to reduce energy consumption or carbon emissions - according to a 2008 ComputerWorld survey.
