Honeywell has developed an energy savings plan for the Great Meadows School District’s three facilities in Warren County, New Jersey, NJ.com reports.
The project includes replacing existing lighting systems with energy efficient LED lights, replacing boilers, hot water heaters and motors with more energy efficient units, refurbishing the cooling tower, completing a natural gas conversion, updgrading the building management system at all district schools, installing demand control ventilation, and making building envelope improvements.
The $2.6 million project won’t cost tax payers a dime, thanks to the state’s Energy Savings Improvement Program (ESIP), which allow government agencies in New Jersey to make energy related improvements to their facilities and pay for the project using the value of the energy savings that result from the improvements. Great Meadows will pay off the loan at a rate of 3 percent over 15 years.
State rebates and incentives are estimated at $176,000.
The energy savings are guaranteed by Honeywell, so if a bid for any aspect of the project comes in too high, Honeywell is responsible for the additional cost.
Honeywell developed a similar plan for New Jersey’s Hillsborough Township Public Schools.
