Dublin (Ohio) schools use the JadeTrack platform to track, manage and save energy. It follows use and billing of water, gas and electric use and monitors HVAC systems in real time, according to the Dublin City Schools’ website.
The tool also audits district buildings and proposes approaches to cut energy use and increase efficiency. JadeTrack – which partners with Bruner under House Bill 264 – since 2012 has saved the system more than $3.7 million and more than 24 million kWh of electricity.
The information that is collected is displayed on an electronics broad in some of the schools, the story says. This tends to get people more involved and engaged in energy savings efforts. The co-founder and CEO of JadeTrack is a 2002 graduate of the school system.
Just what the energy landscape in Ohio will look like is unclear. The Energy Mandates Study Committee recommended this week that government requirements for the use of solar, wind and other renewable power sources by utilities be suspended due to uncertainty over proposed clean power rules. The requirements mandate that 25 percent of electricity be generated by alternate sources by 2025, according to an AP report posted on Fox45now.
