safewaySafeway has selected Hara to provide enterprise carbon accounting software, while the U.S. General Services Administration went with Shaw on a similar contract.

Safeway said it hopes its contract with Hara will help give it insight into the size and makeup of its energy usage and carbon footprint and a roadmap for achieving further cost reductions and better carbon management, according to a press release.

Shaw received a blanket purchase agreement from the administration, for purposes of performing audits, reviews and consumption surveys to help the GSA optimize building energy efficiency, according to a press release.

Shaw also will help the GSA with other energy and water conservation measures, as well as provide water management record updates for government equipment and infrastructure systems.

Shaw is among several firms sharing in a general government contract that is capped at $500 million through 2014.
