H2O Innovation, a membrane filtration manufacturer, has acquired Clearlogx water treatment technology and Clearlogx’s business related to the sale of coagulants for $1.97 million Canadian ($1.5 million).
The technology helps maintain and optimize chemical performance, while improving the overall efficiency of water treatment processes, the company says.
For ultrafiltration (UF) water treatment plants, the technology can help minimize membrane fouling, extend membranes’ lifecycle, and thus, reduce overall plant operating expenses.
H2O Innovation says the acquisition of Clearlogx will increase the level of H2O Innovation recurring sales while further strengthening the business sector dedicated to water treatment systems.
Clearlogx Technology vice president Gregg McLeod says the company’s technology has improved UF membrane filters performance in North America and points to the the Carter Lake Potable Water Plant as an example. He says the 30 MGD UF system was facing de-rated production capacity, inefficient chemical cleanings, shortened membrane life and regulatory compliance issues.
After the integration of Clearlogx controls into the process, the water plant saw a “dramatic reduction” in membrane fouling, enabling it to increase production up to design capacity while reducing chemical and power consumption, he says.
H2O Innovation has this year inked agreements to design and build water reuse systems for two California cities during the state’s ongoing drought.
