GSA Issues Request to Bring 3 MW of Solar to Federal Buildings in Washington, DC

Posted

CapitalThe United States General Services Administration (GSA) issued a request for proposal for the procurement of electricity produced by solar photovoltaic arrays to be constructed by the selected bidder that will install 3 MW of solar energy across 18 federal buildings in Washington DC. The RFP is part of the Capital Solar Challenge, which was launched by the White House in April 2014 and directs federal agencies and military installations to identify opportunities to deploy solar at federal locations across the Capital Region.

The White House Council on Environmental Quality, GSA National Capital Region, and the Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) are partnering to assist agencies in implementing the initiative. With funding provided by FEMP, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory supports the effort through on-site technical feasibility assessments, RFP development, and other technical and procurement assistance.

A pre-proposal conference will be hosted by GSA on June 26, and proposals are due August 18.
