welcome missouri energy manageThe Greenfield (MO) School District last autumn retained Missouri Sun Solar to install a 376 kilowatt solar system, according to the Joplin Globe. Installation of the panels at the high school, middle school and elementary school began in March 29.

The goal, according to the story, is to lower the energy bills by 80 percent. That could reduce spending from the current $8,000 to $10,000 per month to $2,000 to $3,000. The installation was completed on May 12 outside of remaining electrical work. The installation is expected to be fully operational this month. Missouri Sun Solar says that it will be the largest private solar installation in the state.

In April, the 21st Century Fund, The National Council on School Facilities and The Center for Green Schools released a report entitled “State of Our Schools.” It found that facilities are lacking across the United States.
