Goodrich Corp. announced its Tullahoma facility has made improvements to reduce the facility's environmental impact.
Some of the improvements include:
-- Reducing hazardous waste from 35,000 pounds a year to zero
-- Decreasing energy consumption by more than 1 million kilowatt hours per year
-- Redirecting air compressor discharge to provide plant heating during the winter months
-- Recycling over 1.3 million pounds of materials so far in 2008
-- Cutting water consumption by 100,000 gallons a year through recycling all cooling tower water back through the plant cooling system.
The company's Landing Gear team in Tullahoma received the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry's 2008 Top Environmental Excellence Award this week.
