Goldman Sachs has a goal to become 100 percent renewable by 2020; Johnson & Johnson by 2050; Nike by 2025; and Voya International by 2015. Steelcase became 100 percent powered by renewable electricity in 2014.

RE100 is global campaign led by The Climate Group in partnership with CDP to engage, support and showcase influential businesses committed to 100 percent renewable electricity.

The announcement coincided with Climate Week NYC, sending a reminder to negotiators at December’s COP21 UN climate talks that leading businesses want strong climate action from governments.

RE100 launched one year ago with 13 original corporate partners: IKEA Group, Swiss Re, BT Group, Formula E, H&M, KPN, Nestlé, Philips, RELX Group, J. Safra Sarasin, Unilever, YOOX Group, and Mars Incorporated. There are now 36 major businesses from around the world that have joined the campaign. Green desert economy developer Elion Resources Group became the first Chinese company to join in March 2015, followed in May by Infosys, the first Indian company.

Earlier this month, Swiss financial services provider UBS, and Dutch Life Sciences and Materials sciences company Royal DSM joined.

Many of the companies making RE100 commitments have also supported the Corporate Renewable Energy Buyers Principles, an initiative of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the World Resources Institute (WRI), which seeks to make it easier for companies to buy renewable energy.
