The Folsom Lake Ford dealership in Folsom, Calif., will conduct a $1.6 million energy efficiency retrofit and solar power project made available through the city’s green energy financing program, mPOWER Folsom, reports the Sacramento Bee.
The mPOWER program utilizes the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing model. The financed amount is amortized and the annual amount due is added to the property owner’s tax bill each year until paid in full. If the property is sold, the equipment and the unpaid amount stay with the property. The mPOWER program serves the cities of Auburn, Colfax, Folsom, Lincoln, Loomis, Rocklin, Roseville and unincorporated areas of Placer County.
The $1.6 million will be used by the Ford dealership to install LED lighting, a cool roof, an energy-efficient HVAC system, and a 402 kW solar array. The solar system alone is projected to save about $75,000 annually over 25 years, says the Sac Bee.
