Here’s the latest news on hirings, promotions and departures among environmental leaders.
Xylem: The global water technology company has appointed Steven R. Loranger as CEO and president, effective immediately. Loranger was chairman, president and CEO of ITT Corporation when it spun its water businesses off as Xylem in 2011. He currently serves as a director of Xylem and succeeds Gretchen W. McClain, who stepped down as president and CEO and as a director to pursue other opportunities. The company’s board of directors is initiating a search for the next CEO.
WesTech Engineering: The employee-owned company that specializes in the design of process equipment for municipal water and wastewater treatment has appointed Rex Plaizier as president and CEO. The move was effective as of Sept. 1. Plaizier has a 27-year career with WesTech and has served as the company’s president for five years.
American Chemical Society: The nonprofit has appointed Manuel (Manny) Guzman to be the next president of CAS, effective Sept. 30. He succeeds Robert J. Massie who is retiring at the end of March 2014. Most recently Guzman was executive vice president of learning and research solutions and international at Cengage Learning.
WRScompass: The environmental remediation company has appointed Gary Gardner as senior vice president. Most recently Gardner served as senior vice president for the environmental division at Posillico Civil.
Syrinix: The smart pipeline monitoring technology company has appointed business development director Dale Hartley to lead its international expansion plans. Hartley brings with him 18 years of international water project experience to Syrinix.
Carbon Sciences: The natural gas-to-liquids (GTL) company says James E. Leahy has joined Carbon Sciences as GTL project advisor and will assist the company with planning and developing its first GTL plant. From 2008 to 2011, Leahy was engineering manager for Australian American Energy Company and managed various coal-to-liquids studies and projects.
BrownFlynn: The sustainability consulting firm has added two analysts, Sarah Corrigan and Brittany VanderBeek, and promoted Marissa Beechuk to associate consultant and marketing manager. Corrigan and VanderBeek both began interning at BrownFlynn this year. Beechuk has been working at BrownFlynn for about five years, most recently as associate consultant and marketing manager.
Environmental Waste International: The company specializing in eco-friendly systems for the breakdown of organic materials has appointed Emanuel Gerard, a director since 1999, chairman of the board.
