Here’s the latest news on hirings, promotions and departures among environmental leaders.
Nest Labs: The smart home device maker, owned by Google, has announced founder and CEO Tony Fadell (pictured) is “leaving the Nest.” Marwan Fawaz, former CEO of Motorola Home, is joining Nest as the company’s new CEO.
Nissan: The automaker has appointed its first chief sustainability officer, according to Automotive News. Senior VP Hitoshi Kawaguchi was previously in charge of corporate social responsibility, global external and government affairs as well as Japan communications.
Edison International: The West Coast utility giant says its CEO Theodore “Ted” Craver will retire in September, keeping with the company’s practice of CEOs stepping down at age 65. Pedro J. Pizarro will succeed Craver as CEO. Pizarro has more than 16 years with the utility, most recently serving as president of Southern California Edison.
Port of Seattle: The port has promoted Elizabeth Leavitt to its newly created position of senior director for environment and sustainability. Leavitt has worked for the port for more than 26 years, for the past seven years as the director of aviation planning and environmental programs.
WegoWise: The energy and water benchmarking company has hired Laila Partridge as its new CEO. Partridge is a Fortune 100-trained executive with 30 years of experience with large companies like Intel and Wells Fargo.
Watershed Geo: The geosynthetics company that engineers systems waste containment, erosion control and soil stabilization has appointed David Cieply to vice president of solid waste market. Prior to Watershed Geo, Cieply served in various roles at companies such as Waste Management and Republic Services.
Environmental Waste International: The company that specializes in environmentally safe systems to breakdown organic material has appointed Karen Rutenberg as chief financial officer and Michelle McDonald as corporate secretary. Rutenberg has worked with EWS for three years. McDonald has been with EWS for two years.
Enatel: The power solutions firm has appointed Aaron Gale as chief financial officer. Most recently, Gale served as CEO for HydroWorks.
Apana: The automated water management startup has added Kristie Lanum as operations director and expanded the sales team by bringing on Keith Bass and Eric Glerum, most recently with energy management and sustainability company Ecova.
The Sustainable Shipping Initiative: The coalition of companies from across the global shipping industry has appointed Ian Petty as its first-ever general manager. Prior to joining the SSI he was director group operations and member of the executive management team at P&O Maritime in Australia and Dubai.
