Energy Stats for Boston Buildings Online

Posted

BostonEnergy metrics for buildings in Boston now are available, according to The Daily Free Press. The website, which was created by Greenovate Boston, will help link building management to energy efficiency incentives and financing programs that are available to them. The story says that large buildings are responsible for about half the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the city.

The site says that  Greenovate tracks site energy use (EIU); Energy Star Score; Energy Star Certification; on-site renewable energy; total site energy use; electricity, gas and steam intensity; GHG total and intensity and water use intensity.

In San Francisco, The Urban Land Institute Greenprint Center for Building Performance found that energy use by buildings tracked since 2010 has come down 7.9 percent. The reduction is attributed to conformance with the city's Existing Commercial Buildings Energy Performance Ordinance.
