EnerNOC has installed its energy intelligence software on the tiny screen of a smart watch.
The company developed a proof-of-concept on a Samsung Gear S smart watch during an EnerNOC hack-a-thon last year and has been testing and refining it since, according to the company’s blog.
The watch shows energy consumption over a 24-hour period in kWh and compares current usage with a previous point in time. The user simply flicks his wrist to show the current consumption.
The EnerNOC team working on the technology used a real customer’s energy data for four buildings to work on such problems as coordinating time zones between the watch and the buildings’ locations.
A spokesperson for EnerNOC said, "There are no specific plans for the app, and no commercial release of the watch app is imminent, though it's definitely an example of where EnerNOC continues to innovate and make energy management personal and mobile."
