Energy Executive Moves: FCS, Siemens, WATT Fuel Cell, Optimum Energy, Crius Energy Trust, UNS Energy

FCS has named Graham Mattison (pictured) as national sales manager - US for its new line of building and energy management products. Mattison is responsible for introducing the new product line by developing and maintaining relationships with facility managers across the country. Mattison most recently served as territory sales manager for Mueller Systems, a manufacturer of advanced metering infrastructure software and hardware.

Joe Kaeser became the new chief executive of German engineering group Siemens, after the abrupt departure of Peter Loescher, who prematurely ended his employment contract, which was supposed to run until 2017.

WATT Fuel Cell appointed Derek Corcoran to the position of senior principal engineer. In his new role, Corcoran will apply more than a decade of experience in the fuel cell and materials sciences industries to streamline cell and stack manufacturing processes at the company. He will also manage key development, scale-up and production projects related to the commercialization of WATT Fuel Cell’s technology platforms.

Optimum Energy hired Erik Leonard as vice president of business development. Leonard most recently held the position of director of strategic markets for Lineage Power, which was acquired by GE Energy's Critical Power organization in 2011. In this position, he negotiated the single largest sales contract in company history and was instrumental in expanding GE Energy’s mobile product portfolio within its strategic Tier 1 accounts.

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) announced four new members to the Board of Directors: David Victor, a professor at the University of California, San Diego; Sheryl Carter, a co-director of the Natural Resources Defense Council; Rebecca Blalock, an expert in utility information technology systems; and Charles Pardee, executive vice president and chief generation officer for the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Crius Energy Trust appointed Chaitu Parikh to the position of chief operating officer, effective August 19. Parikh is a 16-year veteran of the retail energy industry. Prior to joining Crius Energy, Parikh spent ten years with MXenergy, where he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer before being appointed president and CEO in 2011.

The Energy Department's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) named Maria Ghirardi and Angelo Mascarenhas to its Research Fellows Council, the laboratory's top advisory council comprised of internationally recognized NREL scientists and engineers. Along with the 10 current members of the Research Fellows Council, Ghirardi and Mascarenhas will advise NREL executive management on the strategic direction of science and technology research at the laboratory.

The board of directors of UNS Energy named President David Hutchens as the company’s chief operating officer. The new, second title reflects Hutchens’ direct oversight of the business operations of UNS Energy and its subsidiaries, including Tucson Electric Power (TEP) and UniSource Energy Services. In another key move, UNS Energy promoted Philip Dion to senior vice president of Public Policy and Customer Solutions.

Principal Solar appointed Jeff Heller, former vice chairman of Electronic Data Systems, to its board of directors. Heller was instrumental in helping generate historic growth for EDS with his restructuring and revitalization strategies.
