Energy Executive Moves: Ameresco, Plug Power, LED Source, CLEAResult, EnerNOC, Optimum Energy

1a994b9Mark Wilhelm (pictured) has been named Ameresco’s corporate director of sustainability and climate neutrality initiatives. He will function as Ameresco’s sustainability liaison cross-company, champion best practices for customers, and leverage expert knowledge from within Ameresco and a network of experts to develop and implement projects and strategies. Wilhelm joined Ameresco in 2013 as the director of climate neutrality initiatives.

Tim Cortes joined Plug Power as vice president of hydrogen. Cortes will oversee the company’s GenFuel business. Cortes comes to Plug Power from Smiths Power where he served as chief technology officer and vice president of engineering. Cortes replaces Erik Hansen, Plug Power’s former VP of hydrogen, who resigned. Additionally, Jose Luis Crespo has been promoted to vice president of global sales, a new position for the company. Crespo joined Plug Power in January of 2014 to lead international sales and business development activity.

CLEAResult, a company that designs and implements energy efficiency programs for utilities, schools and businesses, welcomed David Mehok as its new chief financial officer. Mehok joins CLEAResult after serving as Dell’s executive director of finance for US preferred accounts and commercial Canada.

EnerNOC hired Eric Erston as vice president of global enterprise sales. Erston will report to EnerNOC senior vice president of global sales, Gregg Dixon, and will be responsible for driving the adoption of EnerNOC's cloud-based software with enterprise customers in all geographies. Most recently, Erston led the global integration of a strategic acquisition for RSA.

Optimum Energy appointed Bert Valdman as president and chief executive officer. Valdman joins Optimum Energy from Edison International, where he was senior vice president and chief strategy officer since 2011. He has served on the Optimum Energy board of directors since 2013. Valdman replaces Matt Frey, who has served as president and chief executive officer of Optimum Energy since 2010.

American DG Energy and EuroSite Power announced the resignation of Barry Sanders who was president and chief operating officer of American DG Energy and CEO, president and director of EuroSite Power. Benjamin Locke, who is Co-CEO of American DG Energy, will assume Sanders' responsibilities.

Luminus Devices, a manufacturer of LEDs, hired Mark Pugh as vice president of marketing. Most recently, Pugh was co-founder of Xicato and was instrumental in creating the "LED Module" category for the SSL industry.

LED Source, a franchisor of LED lighting products, hired Sanford Lechner as chief operating officer.

Ecotech Institute named Patrick Longstreth as the school’s new academic dean. Longstreth has been with Ecotech Institute since October 2012, serving as the school’s program director for both the electrical engineering technology program and power utility technician program. Donald Smith has been named as the new program director of both the electrical engineering technology and power utility technician programs.

The Board of Directors of the National Housing Trust elected two new directors this week. Anne Evens of Elevate Energy and Elizabeth Chant of Vermont Energy Investment Corporation. Both have worked specifically on bringing the benefits of reduced energy costs to affordable multifamily housing.
