A blog at the website of the Colorado chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council discusses energy efficiency in multi-family buildings in the Denver area. The post points out that an investment of $109 million in energy efficiency improvements would save almost four times that amount – about $415 million – over 10 years.
Examples of recent activity in the area are Cornerstone Apartments, The Prado Condominium and Metro West Housing Solutions, all of which recently enrolled in the Denver City Energy Project’s Benchmarking Program. All three noted that the motivations were to increase efficiency and cut energy costs.
Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper recently introduced Colorado's first climate plan. The Colorado Business Journal says it deals with water, public health, energy, transportation and agriculture. On energy, it advocates "timely and complete" fulfillment of renewable energy goals set for 2020, utilities' use of renewable energy resources and easier access to capital for any entity attempting to improve energy efficiency in their home or business.
