Media Markt, a Dutch chain store for electronics, reduced its waste collection costs by 40 percent after installing Bramidan Balers’ machines, according to a company case study.
Previously, Media Markt collected 75 percent of their waste in containers, unsorted. The company says this was too costly and inefficient.
Now almost every store has a Bramidan X30 baler for cardboard and plastics; the exception being the stores that have their expedition on an elevated level, which can’t support the machine’s weight.
Additionally, 90 percent of the stores have an EPS-press, which compresses Styrofoam into blocks, reducing its size as much as 90 percent. This also clears space in the warehouse.
Because of the Bramidan installations, the waste collector only comes by the stores twice a week and the recyclable waste yields money that is used to pay for transportation.
