The advent of electric vehicles (EVs) is a big deal to energy managers because they will be tasked with supplying electricity to units on their premises.
Such stations are becoming more common. For instance, Duke Energy, under its “EV Charging Infrastructure Project,” will install more than 200 charging stations in almost 50 counties in North Carolina. Almost all of the counties were awarded more than one station under the program, which is a product of a settlement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and environmental groups.
The release says that the $1 million program has selected cities, counties and organizations to get $5,000 grants. This, the release says, should cover the costs of setting up the stations. The winners will determine precisely where the charging stations will be.
Energy Manager Today discussed the impact of EVs and EV charging stations in July and November.
