Late last week, the Obama Administration announced a series of steps aimed at giving cities, utilities and businesses easier access to energy data and in other ways promoting energy efficiency.
The press release says that:
- Eighteen utilities (serving more than 2.6 million commercial customers) will provide easier access to data by 2017.
- Thirty cities and states and 21 organizations will make data more easily available and make it easier to identify ways to cut energy waste.
- Twenty-four cities, states and businesses have committed to improving energy efficiency by 20 percent by 2020.
- Seven cities and states are installing more efficient outdoor lighting.
Last week, The U.S. Department of Energy said that The Wendy’s Company has joined its Better Building Challenge and is committed to reducing its consumption in company-owned restaurants by 20 percent by 2025.
