Direct Energy Offers Residential Ratepayers 'Plenti' of Savings

Posted

On August 25, Houston-based power retailer Direct Energy expanded a residential ratepayer loyalty and rewards program to both its current and new customers, when they sign up for or renew their qualifying plans.

The program, which Direct Energy started testing last March along with six other major brands – AT&T, ExxonMobil, Macy’s, Hulu, Nationwide, and Rite Aid – is designed and operated by American Express’s loyalty division. Called Plenti, it offers 1,000 points when a ratepayer signs on and the opportunity to add points each month for each dollar they spend on their bills; which then can be used for savings on a new pair of designer shoes, a tank of gas, or household items.

Customers in applicable markets can earn an extra 1,000 points each time they participate in a qualifying activity, such as paperless billing or automatic payments. Each 10,000 in Plenti points is equivalent to $100 in shopping dollars. Plenti points can be used for savings at certain Plenti partners, including AT&T, Exxon, Macy's, Mobil and Rite Aid.

Taxes and other utility fees and charges are not eligible. Points are not earned on late payment charges, collection recovery fees, or insufficient fund fees.

"Direct Energy is focused on delivering to our customers more choices, conveniences, and, most importantly, new opportunities to save on energy costs," said Direct Energy Residential Head of Marketing Mike Beck. "This is an innovative way to bring value to Direct Energy customers."
