Iain Lochhead, operations director at John Dewar & Sons, part of the Bacardi group of companies, says the Scotch whisky distillery explored several options for reducing its fossil fuel usage before settling on a biomass boiler. He estimates the boiler, which uses wood pellets, will reduce the distillery’s carbon emissions from fossil fuel sources by up to 6,000 tons per year.
