AMEC: The engineering and project management company has been awarded a framework contract by BP to provide environmental and related consulting services for all of BP’s assets in its upstream, refining and marketing, alternative energy and shipping businesses worldwide. Under the agreement, AMEC will provide a wide range of services including emergency response and continuity planning, remediation engineering, decommissioning, waste management and environmental services.
Hara: The sustainability management software company will track, verify and manage Agco Corporation’s global energy, waste, water, and corresponding GHG emissions, per its contract with the agricultural machinery manufacturer. The partnership will help Agco make progress toward its reduction targets and lower its energy and environmental impact, the companies say.
Wartsila: The marine industry services provider has been contracted by Norwegian cruise and ferry operator Color Line to retrofit four exhaust gas cleaning systems to the company’s SuperSpeed 2 Ro-pax ferry. The four separate Wartsila open loop scrubber systems will reduce the emissions of sulfur oxides and particulates in compliance with International Maritime Organization and European Union regulations.
Ceco Environmental: The air pollution control technology provider has received several new orders totaling $15 million. These new global orders were from natural gas, traditional power, automotive, food, oil refinery and wind turbine customers located in the US, Canada and Asia.
Tetra Pak: The food processing and packaging company has signed an agreement with Braskem, the largest thermoplastic resins producer in the Americas, for the supply of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) made from sugar cane to its packaging material factories in Brazil. The initiative, which will be limited in scope to Brazil only for the duration of the trial, is scheduled to start during the first quarter of 2014. According to the plan, Tetra Pak will use bio-based LDPE as a component of its packages produced in Brazil. This means that 100 percent of Tetra Pak packages produced in Brazil, about 13 billion, will have up to 82 percent packaging material from renewable sources.
Waste Pro of Alabama: The garbage collection company will provide trash collection and curbside recycling to Shelby County and the City of Montevallo, AL.com reports. Both the city and the county have been using Waste Management for garbage pickup. The new contracts with Waste Pro, effective Oct. 1, will save customers’ money, according to the blog.
