Electro Water SeparationAlgEternal Technologies will incorporate OriginOil’s chemical-free Electro Water Separation technology (pictured) to harvest algae as a key component of its algal production system. AlgEternal Technologies has developed a vertical growth, algal culture photo bioreactor technology to produce high-quality algae for the wholesale commercial algae production market.

Sensoil has installed its Vadose Monitoring System, a warning system to immediately alert industrial and governmental customers to the presence of ground contaminants, under a landfill in Hod Hasaron, a township near Tel Aviv, Israel. VMS will provide instantaneous and continuous online monitoring of soil contamination levels between the landfill and freshwater aquifer that provides water for drinking and irrigation to the township’s nearby residents.

NASA has awarded Healtheon a $29.8 million contract to provide a high-pressure industrial water line at the Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Miss., Nola.com reports. The line will provide water for cooling and to suppress noise at a facility NASA will use to test rocket engines that will be part of its space launch system.

Sembcorp, a Singapore-based energy, water and marine group, has signed an agreement to invest NOK 30 million ($4.9 million) in Biowater Technology. Sembcorp will also enter into a strategic partnership agreement with Biowater, which will give Sembcorp preferential and early access to its biofilm technologies and provide Biowater access to Sembcorp’s global facilities to accelerate the development and commercialization of its technologies.

Natural gas engines company Westport Innovations has acquired BAF Technologies and its subsidiary, ServoTech Engineering, subsidiaries of Clean Energy Fuels, for $25 million in Westport stock. Westport says this will create the largest product portfolio and largest market presence in the North American light duty natural gas vehicle space.

Covanta Energy, the largest owner and operator of energy-from-waste facilities in North America, has signed an agreement with the City of Waterbury, Conn., for waste management services. Covanta will provide sustainable disposal of the city’s 40,000 tons of municipal solid waste at the Covanta Bristol energy-from-waste facility, in addition to handling 5,000 tons of recyclables.
