ABB has won a contract to supply chargers for more than 200 nationwide Fastned electric vehicle fast-charging stations in the Netherlands. The roll-out will bring a charging station within 50 kilometers of all 16.7 million inhabitants in the country. ABB will supply Fastned with 50 kW Terra 52 or Terra 53 models, capable of charging electric vehicles in 15 to 30 minutes, starting in September.
Tetra Tech has received a $100 million US Navy Unrestricted Remedial Action Contract VI for environmental remediation services at various Department of Defense installations in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington, as well as other installations within the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Atlantic area of responsibility.
Harsco has won a 15-year, $160 million contract with Essar Steel India, one of India's largest steel producers and exporters, for slag management and metal recovery services. Harsco will do this work at an Essar steel plant that is the world's fourth largest single location facility in the second half of 2014.
The GeoTechnical Research Institute has chosen Gershman, Brickner & Bratton to be a consulting adviser to the city of Houston for its One Bin for All initiative, which combines mechanical biological treatment with advanced resource-recovery processing for residential municipal solid waste. The initiative requires people to throw everything — recycling material and trash — into one bin in an effort to boost recycling.
Canadian National Railway (CN) will begin service to a 555,000 ton per year frac sand terminal north of Grand Prairie in Alberta starting in November. Edmonton-based Di-Corp, a distributor of specialty chemicals to the mining and drilling industries, is building the 20-acre facility from where CN will transport frac sand to Di-Corp's energy markets.
Algae.Tec signed a deal with Australia's largest power company, Macquarie Generation, to set up an algae carbon capture and biofuels production facility next to a 2,640 MW coal-fired power station near Sydney. Macquarie will supply CO2 from its operations to help grow algae in Algae.Tec's closed-loop system.
