Celestial Delights USA Corp., a marketer of food ingredients, is putting together a series of giant wind installations in China.
The company has signed a letter of intent to build up to 300 megawatts worth of wind energy parks near Huitengliang, Inner Mongolia, China, according to a press release.
China ranks behind only the U.S. in attractiveness as a place to invest in renewable energy, according to a report from Ernst & Young.
Celestial Delights, which markets flavored oils, vinegars, mustards, rubs, antipastos, and sugars, is working with Han Wind Energy Corp. on the projects, which will start with a 48 MW installation and progress toward 300 MW as demand grows.
The area has a recorded average annual wind speed of more than 8 meters per second, reports Zibb.
Han Wind had been working on the site from 2005 to 2008, but needed more financing to bring the wind farm to fruition. Recent legislation in China requiring renewable energy to be grid-tied is helping speed the project along, as well.
In addition to the products listed above, Celestial Delights is building up a broader product line of grapeseed oils, mustard sauces, grilling rubs, bread dippers, gourmet dips, seasoning salts, chutneys, cookie/brownie mixes, and apple butters under the Celestial Delights brand.
