CDEnviro has installed a road sweeping recycling plant in Australia — the company says it’s the Southern Hemisphere’s first — to help divert waste from landfill.
The recycling plant is currently being commissioned at Australian physical services company Citywide’s Dynon Road Waste Transfer Station in West Melbourne as part of a major transformation at the recycling facility.
The process of recycling road sweepings diverts waste from landfill while cleaning and recycling the washing water within the system. The company says its turn-key road sweeping recycling systems provide the potential to recycle all incoming waste streams to realize the maximum reduction in waste to landfill.
Recycling road sweepings has become common in the UK in recent years because of the rising landfill costs.
CDEnviro in March announced that MTS Cleansing Services, a UK-based liquid waste management company, purchased three CDEnviro D:MAX mobile classification systems. The units will allow MTS to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill by separating grit and rag from sludge. The grit and silt that is recovered from the waste water can then be resold as recycled aggregates.
