MTS Cleansing Services, a UK-based liquid waste management company, has purchased three CDEnviro D:MAX mobile classification systems. The units will allow MTS to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill by separating grit and rag from sludge. The grit and silt that is recovered from the waste water can then be resold as recycled aggregates.
D:MAX allows wastewater companies and their contractors to improve their operational efficiencies because the waste becomes drier and easier to manage and transport. In addition, the organics and other screenings can be used in energy generation.
MTS initially contacted CDEnviro to purchase two D:MAX units; however, MTS increased its order to three units after securing a five-year extension on its contract with Southern Water.
CDEnviro had previously provided a processing plant for MTS sister company, CFS, to remove the excess moisture from sewer grit collected by tankers. The sewer grit was then sent to an in-vessel composting system, which can convert sewage grits and screening waste into fertilizer in 12 days.
CDEnviro says its sludge screening technologies are also improving operational efficiencies for the UK pharmaceutical industry.
