The SPR operates under the Advisory Board on Radiation and Worker Health, which was established pursuant to the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act of 2000. The Board advises the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on scientific and technical matters related to radiation dose reconstruction and worker compensation eligibility.
According to the notice, the January meeting agenda includes administrative items, professional judgment assessments, and reviews of technical documents related to radiation dose reconstruction. Topics expected to be discussed include coworker dosimetry data, external and internal dose methodologies, responses from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and previously issued guidance and review reports. Agenda items may be adjusted based on subcommittee priorities.
Written comments must be received by January 21, 2026, and may be submitted by mail or email to the designated federal officer at NIOSH. Dial-in information for the audio conference is provided in the Federal Register notice, with capacity limited to 150 participants.
The Advisory Board is currently authorized through September 30, 2027, unless extended by presidential action. Authority to issue the meeting notice was delegated to the CDC’s Office of Strategic Business Initiatives.
