Heavy equipment manufacturer Caterpillar is deeply involved in energy efficiency and related initiatives, according to a post at Justmeans.

Caterpillar gets 21.1 percent of its electricity from renewable and alternative energy sources, the post says. It has been involved in these efforts for a long time: It set its first energy efficiency target in 1998 and decreased its operational consumption by 24 percent between 2006 and last year. Its absolute energy consumption decreased by 10 percent between 2014 and 2015, the post says.

The company also has reduced greenhouse emissions, reduced water use and improved its waste reduction procedures as well, the post says.

This spring, Navigant Research indicated that the commercial and industry energy storage market in the United States will grow from $968.4 million this year to $10.8 billion in 2025.
