Caesars Casinos Get Tax Breaks for LEEDs Certification Nevada

LEED energy manageEleven casino resorts affiliated with Caesars Entertainment were awarded property tax incentives by the state of Nevada for energy and water savings conservation steps involving tens of millions of square feet of commercial space. The incentives awarded as a result of the resorts receiving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver or gold ratings from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The Governor’s office this year has awarded tax incentives to 22 buildings in Nevada that were received LED certification or the equivalency. Caesars was the biggest contributor with 28.5 million square feet.

There is more good news for energy customers in the state. The Nevada Sun reports that Nevada Energy will rebate $110.8 million on their October bills. The rebates – which are due to the differences between actual costs of fuel and earlier estimates upon which the bills were based -- will range from a few dollars for residential consumers to more than $100,000 for hotels and casinos and other large customers.
