BioteQ Environmental Technologies has completed a pilot water treatment campaign for the removal of selenium from waters occurring at mining company Seabridge Gold’s KSM Project — a major gold and copper mining project — located in Northwestern British Columbia, Canada.The pilot plant was operated by BioteQ in 2014 and into the first quarter of 2015 using the company’s patent-pending Selen-IX treatment technology.
The completion of the piloting campaign within a one-year timeline after the issuance of the BC Environmental Assessment Certificate on July 30, 2014 was a key condition of the certificate for Seabridge Gold to operate the mine and further demonstrates BioteQ’s solution to treat elevated selenium concentrations in impacted waters.
A study released earlier this week by the Freedonia Group forecast demand for water treatment chemicals in the US is forecast to rise 3.2 percent per year to $7.5 billion in 2019, with volume reaching 15.5 billion pounds.
