The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) – a District of Columbia-based group that advocates on behalf of America’s investor-owned utilities – announced on January 6 that Philip D. Moeller would join the organization on February 1 as senior vice president of Energy Delivery and Chief Customer Solutions Officer.

Moeller resigned from his post as commissioner at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in October after serving two terms under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. He was elected to the new post by EEI’s Board of Directors during the group’s winter meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona.

His specific mission will be to direct EEI’s energy delivery, retail energy services, and state regulatory outreach activities.

“Phil’s diverse talents and considerable expertise in regulatory and legislative affairs will be incredibly valuable for the industry during a time of considerable change,” said EEI Chairman Nick Akins, who also is CEO of American Electric Power (AEP).

“I am truly excited about the opportunity to join EEI and to lead the Institute’s activities in these critical areas,” said Moeller. “I look forward to working with EEI’s member companies and with my new EEI colleagues.”
