US cities with the highest concentration of coffee shops are also more likely to be home to businesses that have adopted environmentally sustainable practices, according to a study from Infogroup.
The Western US has the highest concentration of “green cities” and coffee shops, making up all of the top 10 green cities and eight of the top 10 coffee-drinking cities for the US, six of them from Washington State.
California dominated the charts in green cities and in coffee-drinking. The state took half (49 out of 100) of the top 100 green cities spots. California also claimed one-fifth (22 out of 100) of the top coffee-drinking cities in the US, with 20 percent more coffee shops per capita than Seattle, birthplace of Starbucks.
To determine the list of top cities, Infogroup used data from its Green Adopters (GA) for businesses, which identifies B2B prospects that are most likely to adopt environmentally sustainable measures on a scale of 0 to 5 (with 5 being most likely).
