China may soon have the world's biggest photovoltaic project, Raymond James analyst Wayne Andrews told AP (via Forbes).
China Technology Development Group Corp. and Qinghai New Energy Group are planning to build a 30-megawatt on-grid solar power station in Qaidam Basin of northwestern China. The project has a long-term target of 1 gigawatt of capacity, which could make it the biggest photovoltaic project in the world.
Andrews said the project's long-term plans lacks a specific completion schedule, but is set to begin in 2009 with a $150 million initial investment.
Across the ocean, in Colorado, solar systems are taking a hit along with the economy.
