AMPERA Sets Up Global HQ in Palm Beach Gardens

Advanced nuclear startup targets data, defense, and energy needs

Advanced nuclear startup AMPERA has officially emerged from stealth mode, choosing Palm Beach Gardens as the headquarters for its global operations. The company is developing a new class of thorium-fueled, subcritical breeder microreactors aimed at meeting the growing power demands of digital infrastructure, national security, and industrial systems.

Rather than pursuing large-scale nuclear plants with long timelines, AMPERA is focused on modular, transportable reactor systems designed for deployment in constrained or critical environments. The design leans heavily on TRISO fuel, hybrid fusion–fission systems, and additive manufacturing—bringing together innovations that prioritize long-term operational safety and minimal refueling.

The decision to anchor in South Florida reflects a broader shift in Palm Beach County’s economic landscape. Once dominated by tourism and real estate, the region is increasingly aligning itself with high-skill, high-tech sectors such as advanced energy, finance, and engineering. Local officials believe AMPERA’s presence will reinforce Palm Beach Gardens’ emerging role as a destination for innovation.

Investment, Infrastructure, and Jobs on the Horizon

AMPERA has signaled a significant five-year investment in the region, with projections of multi-billion-dollar capital deployment as the company ramps toward commercial reactor production. Initial hiring targets include 100 new roles by the end of 2026, scaling to over 2,000 positions by the end of the decade as a larger manufacturing facility comes online within Palm Beach County.

The hiring strategy is weighted toward high-skill disciplines, with emphasis on nuclear engineering, materials science, physics, software, safety analysis, and technical operations. That talent focus aligns with Palm Beach County’s economic development goals—particularly its efforts to attract employers who provide long-term, knowledge-based jobs.

AMPERA will begin operations in two facilities totaling nearly 100,000 square feet at the Gardens Innovation Center, part of PGA National Commerce Park. The location gives the company access to transportation networks, proximity to regional airports, and connectivity to nearby engineering and finance hubs.

Economic development officials describe AMPERA’s decision as a milestone for the region. According to the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, the headquarters reflects years of strategic effort to build a business environment that can support companies operating in sensitive, high-regulation sectors like clean energy and defense.
