Ametek Land has launched the 4650-PM Continuous Dust Monitor to help US power plants meet the EPA’s new Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) for particulate matter measurement.
The EPA’s new MATS rules sets particulate matter (PM) limits for coal and oil-fired electricity generating units: 4650-PM is suitable for both PM-CEMS (PM-continuous emission monitoring) and PM-CPMS (PM - continuous parametric monitoring system) in dry stacks where condensed water is not present.
Ametek Land’s 4650-PM has a minimum range of 0-15 mg/m3, which allows it to fully meet the requirements of the MATS rule. The design of 4650-PM is based on QAL1 certified, highly accurate forward-scattering laser technology that has been proven to be highly effective at measuring PM in Europe since 2009, the company says.
According to Ametek Land, patented technology incorporated into 4650-PM is capable of exceeding all American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and EPA requirements. Its large-area collection optics and stable optical design allow it to achieve a detection limit < 0.1 mg/m3.
Additionally, 4650-PM, which is made in the UK, offers variable insertion depth and has no continuously moving parts. It is able to operate in a wide range of stack temperatures up to 480 °F as standard (higher temperature options available on request). Advances in connectivity means that is it compatible with TCP-IP Ethernet, RS485, 4-20 mA outputs and is supplied with multiple display modes and a large graphics screen with intuitive menus.
Ametek Land’s 4650-PM is manufactured to ISO 9000 quality standards and meets PS-11 requirements.
