Ameresco has signed a $72.2 million agreement to retrofit four federal buildings in Washington, D.C.
The contract was issued by the U.S. General Services Administration, according to the Worcester Business Journal. The buildings include those that house the Environmental Protection Agency headquarters, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Department of Veterans Affairs. In all, 24 energy conservation steps will be taken across 3.2 million square feet. The story says that 35,822 LED lights and smart lighting controls, double pane windows and groundwater harvesting for cooling also will be installed.
The story says that the GSA expects to save more than $120 million over the 22-year term of the contract.
Ameresco UK said last month that it has gotten a place on four public service “frameworks” in the United Kingdom. The frameworks, which involve procurement for the entire U.K. public sector, include Re:Fit; The Carbon & Energy Fund; the Scottish non-Domestic Energy Program and the Yorkshire Procurement Organisation CHP Framework.
